Free Screening of "Dreaming in Public" at the Golden Rondelle in Racine

Please join us, Gallery on 16th and 16th St. Studios, for Peter O’Keefe’s Emmy award winning documentary, Dreaming in Public, at the Golden Rondelle  on Thursday, April 20th at 7:00pm.

We’re very excited for this premiere screening. Peter and the artists featured in the film will be on hand for a Q & A after the screening.

This is free and open to the public, but reservations are necessary.

About the movie:

Dreaming In Public follows two artists as they struggle to make art and make a living in the middle of 'flyover country' Indiana. Both Jake and Kay have achieved solid reputations in the art world and their work is widely collected and exhibited. In spite of that success, earning a living from their art continues to be the biggest challenge they face. We follow them as they make art and discuss their work. They talk about their partnership, their families, and their careers as artists. The visual style reflects their work: bold, lyrical and evocative, revealing the impressive range and quality of their artistic output.

Gallery on 16th Artist Studio Tour and Interview Featuring: Maria Lee

Gallery on 16th Artist Studio Tour and Interview Featuring: Maria Lee

Maria’s cheerful bright corner studio was nothing short of paradise. The walls were carefully curated with her own artworks, work from friends, and photographs of sentimental value. I walked down the narrow studio entrance which, in a few steps, opened up into her workspace where I saw her sitting amongst a collage of different materials and utensils, sanding off an old bowl she recently salvaged.
